North Dakota.. England.. and an engagement

In late April we travelled to North Dakota to visit Dustin's parents.

We visited the lekking prairie chickens...and a 50ft concrete chicken

Wide flat expanses, and long, straight roads

We had a spring snow storm... harsh, cold wind.

Stop, go, wait... bundled up on a walk with Dustin's mum Sharon

It was super to meet Dustin's parents, John and Sharon

And Aunt Joanne and Uncle Keith and family
We then flew to England and had a couple of days in London

Then took the train down to Devon to see my parents

Spring is here..

flower banked lanes
Evening pasties on the cliffs watching birds and seals

Bluebell woods

lambs

We had a wonderful day hike to Salcombe.. 20km along the coastal footpath;

old stone walls, incredible flowers.. and sun

We stayed in a B+B in Salcombe

The next day, Dustin proposed to me... and I said yes!

We are both very very happy

This is where we got engaged... there was a peregrine calling from the cliff above, a nesting greater-black backed gull below, the heavenly smell of gorse in the sun, and crashing waves

Lovely to be at home to celebrate the engagement with mum and dad... champagne (and tea) in the garden.

We then visited Dartmouth for the day

had lovely local walks, and generally enjoyed time together

We have decided we want to have a very small wedding in Alaska this summer, and a wedding blessing in Devon with mum and dad. We had the blessing at Beesands chapel.. a lovely old church by the sea. It was very quiet and special

Mum and dad walked along Beesands to meet us before church

There was quite alot of emotion from all four of us! Dad walked me up the aisle and led the blessing. Soo special to walk through the promises of spending the rest of our lives together.

On the beach afterwards
